Schools to get 100,000 test kits from donation platform
A total of 100,000 rapid antigen test kits will be donated to schools from New World Development's donation matching platform.
The platform, Share for Good, will donate the test kits to Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council, Hong Kong Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools Council, Subsidized Primary School Council, Hong Kong Special Schools Council, and a number of schools.
Hong Kong Subsidized Secondary Schools Council will help coordinate efforts to help distribute test kits to the families in need.
In this new round of donation, 50,000 sets of tests are donated by the HKCPPCC (Provincial) Members Association.
Share for Good was launched in March this year, matching donors with beneficiaries. It has raised over HK$40 million in donation and supplies, benefiting over 100,000 underprivileged families in one month.
The government announced that all students will have to undergo daily rapid tests when in-person classes resume after Easter.
Around 10 million kits will be provided to schools students in need. But authorities refused to hand out freebies to all students, saying it would have wasted public resources.
