Road closures in Central and Tsim Sha Tsui on Christmas Eve; MTR to strengthen services at night
Transport Department announced Friday that road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and West Kowloon Cultural District in phases from afternoon on Christmas Eve, and the Star Ferry Bus Terminus will also be suspended starting from 7.30pm.
Some bus and green minibus (GMB) routes will be subject to diversion, truncation or suspension. Services will be adjusted or enhanced to cater the festive passenger demand.
The services of MTR Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and East Rail Line (Admiralty - Sheung Shui) will be enhanced from 8pm onwards.
MTR heavy rail lines – except Airport Express Line and Disneyland Resort Line – and Light Rail Routes 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P, 706 and 751 will operate round the clock tomorrow (Sat).
The operating hours of MTR Bus Routes 506, K51 and K54 will also be extended.
Tram services will be enhanced in the afternoon and during the evening peak period.
The operating hours of Star Ferry service (Central – Tsim Sha Tsui) will be extended to 0.30am on Christmas, while that of the Central – Mid-Levels Escalator and Walkway System will also be extended 1am on Christmas (Sun) and Boxing Day (Mon).
Citizens are advised to use public transport services and avoid driving to busy areas. They are also reminded to plan their journeys in advance.
