Residents draw a blank on HK Tourism Board staycations bookings site
A surge in demand for online bookings through the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s program allowing residents to spend and redeem one or two-night hotel stays for a discount, has gone offline.
The HKTB's 'Staycation Delights' pledged those who spend HK$800 between March 26 and May 31 on shopping or dining will be able to get a HK$500 discount on a staycation package at one of 140 hotels.
The Tourism Board called on members of the public to make their bookings directly with the participating hotels.
As of today noon, over 20 hotels’ staycation discount quotas were fully booked. According to the board, the booking status of each hotel will be updated every hour starting at 1pm on their website.
