Rescue crew search for lone hiker missing in Sai Kung
Rescue crews are searching for a 29-year-old hiker who went missing at Pak Lap Wan in Sai Kung on Friday.
Ng Kang-yuen left his home at Kingswood Villas in Tin Shui Wai around 1pm on Friday to go hiking near Pak Lap Wan in Sai Kung. His family at home, who had not been able to contact Ng since last night, reported Ng's disappearance to police at 10.17pm.
Ng is 1.8 meters tall and weighs about 75 kilograms with an average build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, black trousers, and a pair of white sneakers.
Ng's father said he was not troubled by emotional problems, and there was probably an accident.
Cops and firefighters were mobilized to the scene to conduct the search, as well as officers from the Civil Aid Service. Helicopters from the Government Flying Service have been trying to locate Ng from the sky as well.
Cops estimated that Ng traveled from Pak Lap Wan to Mok Min Cave, where they looked for Ng alongside firefighters and search and rescue dogs.
Around 10am on Saturday, police received a report from other hikers saying they found items, including water bottles and a phone near a cliff in Pak Lap Wan.
The crew is still searching for Ng as of Saturday afternoon.
