Reduce Waste Recycle More - Earn 6X GREEN$ during GREEN@COMMUNITY Recycling Month

Go green to earn GREEN$ for gift redemption! The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has launched the city-wide campaign “GREEN@COMMUNITY Recycling Month” to promote waste separation and recycling. The public can join a wide range of online and offline activities and receive six times GREEN$ points through recycling during the promotion period.
GREEN@COMMUNITY Recycling Month is organised by the EPD. Members of the public are encouraged to support waste separation and clean recycling to drive Hong Kong towards its aspirational carbon neutrality goal. This campaign is under the exclusive sponsorship of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), as one of the many initiatives supported by the HKJC's approved donation of HK$630 million to the Government of the HKSAR to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, demonstrating that the HKJC is resolute in pursuing its purpose of acting continuously for the betterment of our society, all in support of creating stronger communities together.

Mr Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Ms Lee Wai-sze, Carbon Neutrality Ambassador, and other special guests officiated the GREEN@COMMUNITY Recycling Month Kick-off Ceremony a few days ago. The ceremony launched a series of spectacular events in all districts.

Recycle Now for Six Times GREEN$

From today until 31 December this year, members of the public will earn six times GREEN$ by depositing eight types of designated recyclables at any recycling points of the GREEN@COMMUNITY community recycling network. The designated items include waste paper, metals, plastics, glass containers, regulated electrical equipment, small electrical appliances, fluorescent lamps/tubes, and rechargeable batteries. The public can earn GREEN$ faster for redeeming their favourite gifts.

There are currently 11 Recycling Stations, 32 Recycling Stores and more than 120 Recycling Spots (which operate at fixed locations and times) under the GREEN@COMMUNITY network. This city-wide network provides a convenient means for the public to participate in clean recycling.

City-wide Participation Drives Clean Recycling

The 11 Recycling Stations will take turn to host the RECYCLING FEST throughout the promotion period. A wide variety of fun and educational activities, including booth games, upcycling workshops and second-hand exchange markets, will be organised to encourage the public to integrate source separation of waste and clean recycling practices into their daily lives.

Meanwhile, the EPD is revamping Recycling Stations by incorporating the design concept of placemaking to set up new co-creation activity space and expand the functionality of Recycling Stations. Besides experiencing the revamped Recycling Stations, the public can also make use of the newly-installed smart recycling system, including smart balance, smart recycling bins and gift redemption unit, when depositing the recyclable items.

Waste Reduction and Recycling Thematic MV

To enhance the public’s understanding on source separation and recycling, the EPD has created the thematic song "Please Clean Recycle" for the GREEN@COMMUNITY Recycling Month, featuring actress and singer Yanny Chan. This light-hearted, catchy, and memorable song invites the public to take their first step toward waste reduction and clean recycling.

The music video for "Please Clean Recycle" (https://fb.watch/h4piufZBVq/) is now online. Through a romantic love story, the public will learn that there are at least eight types of recyclables, and it is easy and convenient to practise waste separation and recycling.
