Hong Kong’s new two-color health code system continued to be plagued with problems, with some citizens who recovered from their Covid infections failing to obtain the correct color code for accessing premises under the Covid-19 vaccine pass.
Under the newly announced arrangement, people who are confirmed with
Covid-19 will have a red health code and are required to stay in until they test negative for two consecutive days on the sixth and seventh day of their isolation period. The code will also change to blue once they successfully upload their negative RAT results.
Citizen Leung told local media on Thursday that he had previously tested positive for
Covid and was required to undergo seven days of quarantine at home after authorities issued him with an isolation order.
However, Leung said he had experienced technical difficulties when uploading his results online, with the government’s webpage showing a prompt that says his results were not accepted.
He added that authorities were not helpful at all after he called the government’s support hotline for the LeaveHomeSafe app and alerted the Centre for Health Protection of his situation.
“The delay had forced me to stay in isolation for an extra two days, banning me from restaurants and work,” he said.
Meanwhile, responding to media inquiries, the Innovation, Technology and lndustry Bureau said the operation of the city’s new two-color health code system remains smooth after its launch.
It noted that thousands of users have so far successfully uploaded their test results to obtain a blue color code after recovering from their infections.
The bureau also suggested that some people may have failed to obtain the correct color code because they have yet to complete their full seven-day isolation, or they may not be fully vaccinated, adding that the hotline will offer immediate help to citizens who experienced relevant problems.
