The Department of Health (DH) is investigating an incident of 14 people being administered Covid-19 bivalent vaccines after the suggested use-by date by medical centre Quality HealthCare.
During an inspection on Wednesday, the Department found that the Comirnaty bivalent
vaccines that had been kept one day to eight days after the suggested use-by-date were administered to 14 people from March 21 to 28 at Quality HealthCare medical centre in Kowloon Bay.
The health authority reminded the medical centre to check the suggested use-by date of the
vaccines regularly, store
vaccines with different use-by dates separately and handle the expired
vaccines under guidelines at appropriate time.
According to local experts, no re-vaccination is needed for the affected persons. The DH has yet to receive any discomfort reports from the affected persons.
Quality HealthCare was required to contact the affected persons to explain the situation and follow up on their health condition. The centre is also urged to avoid the recurrence of similar incidents.
