Policeman believed to have committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at police station
A police constable in Hong Kong was suspected to have committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at the New Territories North Regional Police Headquarters this morning.
The veteran cop, having joined the force for over 10 years, was attached to the Emergency Unit.
According to reports, a single gunshot was heard inside a washroom on the eighth floor of the building, where a sergeant later found the constable believed to have shot himself in the right temple with his pistol to commit suicide.
The constable was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
A police source said he believed the constable remained at the police station after his overnight shift ended at around 8am on Friday, without returning his pistol on time.
