Police look into the death of a girl who suspectedly hangs herself
Police are now looking into the death of a 17-year-old girl, who suspectedly hung herself on a slope near a primary school in Tsz Wan Shan on Saturday morning.
The incident took place around 8am this morning. Police received a report from a hiker, who spotted the girl hanging by a tree near the stairs of a slope on Tsz Wan Shan Road in Wong Tai Sin. Medics arrived and found her dead at the scene.
According to the hiker surnamed Yiu, the girl fully dressed was hanging by a tree. There were also a backpack and an umbrella.
Officers didn't find any suicide note at the scene and found the cause of her death suspicious after primary investigation. They then set up a perimeter and stopped hikers from entering the area.
A number of officers continued their investigation in the area and forensics came to examine the girl's body. Officers also collected security footage from The Church of Christ in China Kei Tsz Primary School located nearby.
Family members of the girl also came to the scene around midday. A woman cried and grieved for the girl in a police's vehicle, while another woman could barely stand on her feet after she identified the girl.
The girl's body was later sent to a mortuary around 3pm. The cause of her death is yet to be confirmed.
