Police bust unlicensed gambling premise at a Hung Hom flat
Police busted an unlicensed gambling establishment at a flat in Hung Hom last night, leading to the arrest of 36 people.
The gambling establishment, which also offered alcohol and liqueur was located in a building on Fat Kwong Street in Hung Hom. Officers mounted an operation and raided the flat there around 10pm last night.
The arrestees comprised of 19 men and 17 women, aged 22 to 63. Among them two men and a woman were the managers. The trio were arrested for operating a gambling establishment, selling liquor without a license, keeping liquor for sale without a license, and violating the group gathering ban.
As for the 17 men and 16 women, they were arrested for gambling in a gambling establishment, drinking in an unlicensed liquor premise and violating the group gathering ban.
Police also seized gambling chips worth HK$550,000, a poker table, a electronic Mahjong table and bottles of liquor.
The arrestees were issued fixed penalty tickets and were remanded for questioning.
Officers reminded the public to strictly follow the social distancing rules and minimize the risk of spreading the disease in the community.
