Police arrest 19 people during raid on illegal gambling den and unlicensed bar

A total of 19 people were arrested when police raided an illegal gambling den and unlicensed bar in Yuen Long in the early hours today.
During the crackdown, police arrested 14 men and five women, aged between 16 and 55, and seized over 400 bottles of alcoholic beverages with an estimated market value of HK$7,000, two gambling tables, two sets of playing cards along with HK$26,000 in gambling chips.

During the operation, a 21-year-old man was arrested for operating the illegal gambling while a 55-year-old man was held on suspicion of unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages, unlicensed possession of alcoholic beverages for sales purposes and drinking on premises without a liquor license.

The remaining 12 suspects were arrested over drinking on premises without a liquor license and gambling in an unlawful gambling establishment, they were also ticketed for violating rules that banned gatherings of more than two people.
