(Pictures) Hundreds of anime and comics enthusiasts swarm opening of Ani-Com
Hundreds of anime and comics enthusiasts – some of them in costume – were queuing outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai as early as last night as they waited to be admitted to an annual anime fair on Friday.
An anime fan among the first few in line this morning told reporters he would spend HK$4,500 to purchase two limited edition figures for his friends, while another said he expected to spend around HK$3,000 on toys.
The five-day Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong event – which features exhibitions not only of anime, but also comics, cosplay, toys, games and esports – is bustling with shopping anime and comics fans this afternoon.
An exhibitor selling collectible toy cars said today - the first day of this year’s event, attracted more visitors than on the first day of previous ones. He also expected better sales this year.
Fans who have bought non-fungible token tickets to this year's event will enjoy special access.
The fair is offering 10,000 NFT tickets in five designs priced at HK$150, available via the In Express Expo app, while regular HK$40 tickets can also be purchased via the app or outside hall one of the convention center.
Attendees will be able to cast votes on the In Express Expo app for their favorite contestants in the much-anticipated cosplay competition to be held at the main stage in hall one. Voting begins today and the winner will be announced Sunday.
