Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po, who caught Covid-19 in Saudi Arabia, arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday night after testing negative a day before, and said he looked forward to attending the financial summit.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Chan recalled he caught
Covid Wednesday last week and saw the rapid antigen test result returned negative last night (Mon). He added he has taken a PCR test and is waiting for the test result.
Chan, who landed about 7pm tonight, said he won't make any assumption and noted that the Department of Health will make appropriate arrangements.
The finance chief continued that he looked forward to attending the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit that starts tomorrow (Wed), where he will be joined by over 100 leaders from top international financial institutes.
The event can highlight Hong Kong's status as the international financial hub and showcase the investment opportunities in the city, Chan noted.
Chan also said he understood that four major guests, including Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, would be absent because of their health issues or private reasons.
On another note, Chan said the trip to Saudi Arabia was fruitful and spoke of the overwhelming response from representatives there when discussing the investment opportunities in Hong Kong and the Great Bay Area.
