A survey found that two-thirds of Hong Kong travelers plan to travel overseas in the next 12 months, while quarantine requirements were named as the main concern.
Travel platform Booking.com surveyed 11,000 customers from 11 Asian and Oceanian markets between April and May. The results found that 71 percent of respondents in Hong Kong planned to travel within one year.
While restrictions are still in place, 55 percent of Hong Kong travelers said leisure travel is still important to them, while 70 percent said they were tired of staying at home and "just want to get away".
In addition, more than half of the respondents said they prefer a trip that lasts from 6 to 9 days, followed by a short trip of two to five days (27%).
The survey suggested that the top three considerations for travelers when booking their next trip are safety (63%), quarantine periods (58%) and cost (51%).
Across the 11 markets polled, India emerged most confident with 86% of India travelers stating they intend to travel in the next 12 months; followed closely by Vietnam and China. Hong Kong ranked seventh on the list.
The survey also showed that Hong Kong people's main concerns about travel include local and overseas quarantine requirements, the possibility of being stranded at the destination due to new inbound regulations, and the fear of being infected with the
coronavirus.
On the other hand, 47 percent of Hong Kong people said they would continue to book local trips even if international travel resumed.
