Macau initiated a three-day city-wide compulsory testing scheme on August 4, after a family of four there tested positive for the Delta variant of Covid-19 earlier.
Macau health authorities announced as of 10am this morning, around 614,000 citizens had their specimen collected and around 452,000 citizens tested negative for
Covid.
Also about 101,000 citizens underwent
Covid tests on August 3 before the testing scheme was initiated, meaning that around 716,000 citizens have undergone the tests so far.
Workers at the laboratories will work overnight to speed up the handling of the specimen collected, the Macau government said.
It added that although the temporary testing centers closed this morning, other regular testing centers will remain open to the public.
