Over 4.47m voters for geographical constituencies registered
There are around 4.47 million voters for geographical constituencies and around 220,000 voters for functional constituencies registered, the government announced on Wednesday.
The 2021 final registers of electors for geographical constituencies and functional constituencies will be released on Friday (Oct 29) on the other hand.
"A total of 4,472,863 electors are carried in the final register for geographical constituencies. These registered electors are eligible to vote in the 2021 Legislative Council General Election on December 19," a spokesperson for Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said.
Hong Kong is divided into 10 geographical constituencies after the Improving Electoral System (Consolidated Amendments) Ordinance 2021 came into effect on May 31.
The New Territories South West constituency has the highest number of voters at 510,558, while Hong Kong Island West constituency has the least voters with only 374,795.
“Net increases of about 5,800 of registered electors have been recorded in the 2021 final registers compared to the provisional registers,” the spokesperson said.
“The figures reflect the follow-up actions taken by the REO after the publication of the provisional registers, which mainly include people who were listed on the omissions lists and returned the reply slips in time to the REO to resume their voter registration status.”
Those who supplemented the REO with the required information and were approved by Revising Officer have been included in the final register as well, according to the spokesperson.
