Organizer to strengthen promotion of '0+3' measure ahead of HK International Tennis Challenge

Organizer to strengthen promotion of '0+3' measure ahead of HK International Tennis Challenge

The organizer of Hong Kong International Tennis Challenge 2022 said they will strengthen promotion so that inbound tourists will learn more about the “0+3” quarantine arrangements ahead of late December's tournament.
The tournament will be staged at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium in Causeway Bay from December 23 to Christmas, during which time fans will to able to witness the world-class performances from world no.9 Taylor Fritz and no.11 Hubert Hurkacz.

Hong Kong's own Coleman Wong Chak-lam, who won the boys' double in the 2021 US Open and 2022 Australian Open with France's Max Westphal and American Bruno Kuzuhara, respectively, will participate in the tournament as well.

World no.19 Frances Tiafoe, who advanced to this year's US Open semifinal, will also come, as well as rising Chinese tennis star Wu Yibing.

It has been 20 years since Hong Kong hosted a high-profile tennis competition in 2002.

Wong said he couldn't wait to play against top players from around the world and promised he would give his best shot before fans and supporters.

Philip Mok Kwan-yat, president of the Hong Kong Tennis Association, said the perfect ending to the Rugby Sevens gave them faith to organize the competition.

Mok also spoke of the city's current “0+3” quarantine arrangement, which has been running efficiently, and added they are now discussing with authorities to see if overseas players can enter the tennis courts at Victoria Park to practice in the first three days upon arrival.

He believed authorities would give the green light to the exemptions.

As for tourists with amber code being turned away from the Rugby Sevens games last week, Mok said the organizer will learn from this experience and strengthen promotion so that tourists can fully understand how Hong Kong's “0+3” measure work.
