Organizer to decide staging Standard Chartered Marathon or not on Thursday
It was understood that Hong Kong Association of Athletics Affiliates will decide whether to stage this year's Standard Chartered Marathon on Thursday and make an announcement on Friday.
The event was canceled last year and postponed twice this year. The organizer planned to hold the event on October 24 and had submitted the proposal to government last month.
The organizer has yet to receive any reply from the government.
When replying to media enquiries, the Home Affairs Bureau said it received the primary proposal on holding the Hong Kong Marathon in October.
It said it has asked the Association to provide further information on anti-pandemic measures and crowd control measures, as well as relevant manpower arrangement.
The Bureau said it will seek advice from other departments after it receives further details from the Association.
