One dead after fishing boat capsizes off Po Toi Island
Three mariners were rescued after a mainland fishing boat capsized off Po Toi Island on Friday morning, but one has since died, police said.
The incident that happened at around 6.51am this morning saw the fishing boat tilted and flooded with water.
Marine police, firefighters, and Government Flying Services helicopter were called to the scene to help with the rescue.
It was understood that one of the three men was rescued from the sinking boat, he was conscious and uninjured. Rescuers later found a second man floating in the sea unconscious, he was airlifted to Eastern Hospital and died after attempts at resuscitation.
Police said they located the third man at around 10.50am, who was uninjured and did not require hospitalization.
