One arrested as Customs seizes HK$360,000 worth of fake cosmetics products
Customs seized about 1,300 counterfeit perfume and cosmetics products with an estimated market value of about HK$360,000. A woman was arrested.
Officers announced on Monday that they posed as customers and purchased the suspected counterfeit products that were put on sale through an online platform. After an investigation and with the assistance of the trademark owners, officers took action last Thursday and met the seller to make a deal.
Two bottles of suspected counterfeit perfume and a suspected counterfeit lipstick were seized from a 33-year-old woman. She was then arrested.
Officers further seized about 1,300 items of suspected counterfeit perfume and cosmetics at the arrested woman's home in Sha Tin and an industrial unit in San Po Kong.
Customs is looking into the source of the counterfeit goods, and samples will be sent to the government Laboratory for safety testing.
