Castle Peak Hospital has suspended admission for a ward after a nurse who works there test preliminarily positive for Covid-19.
The nurse who works at Department of General Adult Psychiatry returned to Hong Kong from the United Kingdom on Monday and tested positive at the airport. She is being treated and is in stable condition.
Before leaving Hong Kong, she had worked on November 29 and 30, mainly in charge of managing ward operations. She did not perform any patient care duties.
She attended a work meeting with other wards on November 30. As all staff members wore surgical masks during work, none of them was identified as a close contact. The hospital arranged
Covid-19 tests for a total of 25 staff members who are working in the same ward and who participated in the meeting.
The ward concerned has suspended admission, and was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
On the other hand, the government has tightened travel restrictions for those arriving from five countries due to detection of Omicron cases.
Aruba, Colombia,
Costa Rica, Georgia and Panama will be specified as Group A from December 24 midnight.
Non-Hong Kong residents who have stayed there within 21 days will not be allowed to enter Hong Kong.
Hong Kong residents can only board a flight for Hong Kong if they have been fully vaccinated and hold a recognized vaccination record. They will have to undergo compulsory quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel for 21 days, with six tests to be conducted during quarantine, followed by compulsory testing in a community testing center on the 26th day of arrival in Hong Kong.
