Nurse at vaccination center tests preliminary positive

Nurse at vaccination center tests preliminary positive

Samuel Kwok Po-yin, director of the vaccination center in Kwun Chung Sports Centre confirmed that a female nurse working there tested preliminary positive.
Kwok pointed out that the nurse is required to undergo a virus test once in every two weeks, and she tested negative on May 9.

However, she tested preliminary positive yesterday. She didn’t develop any symptoms and didn’t receive any vaccines. Yet her family members are inoculated.

The nurse last went to work yesterday. She was responsible for administering the vaccines and some administration duties.

She also had a meal with two other nurses yesterday, who have stopped coming to work since then. The incident has been reported to the Centre for Health Protection. It is expected that the two will be sent to quarantine.

Kwok said the center will run as usual, given that it is regularly cleaned twice a day. He believed that no vaccine receiver will be listed close-contact, as the nurse and other citizens were wearing masks when administering vaccines.

It is understood that a domestic helper from the Philippines tested preliminary positive as well, carrying the N501Y mutated variant. She lives at Island Harbourview in Tai Kok Tsui, and has been to Pakistan between February 8 and April 3.
