No public viewing area for flag-raising ceremony on July 1 morning
Hong Kong's incoming leader John Lee Ka-chiu, together with other top officials, will attend a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square on Friday morning to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city's handover. There will be no public viewing area for the flag-raising ceremony.
The police band will perform at the ceremony, while tenor Chen Yong and soprano Phoebe Tam will lead the national anthem. The SAR Disciplined Services will salute from the air and sea.
The government will also hold a ceremony to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the HKSAR's Establishment and the sixth government's inauguration at the City Hall on the third floor of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The police will implement traffic control around the Golden Bauhinia Square, where only holders of valid permits will be allowed to enter the area.
