Travelers who have already booked seven-day quarantine hotel rooms do not have to make any change and will automatically receive a refund of unused nights, the government said.
The government announced that the quarantine period for inbound travelers will be shortened to three days starting Friday, plus four days of medical surveillance at home.
Vincent Fung Hao-yin, deputy secretary for health, said that travelers who have booked a seven-day quarantine hotel do not need to make any changes and can check in with the original documents.
Under the new measure, the arrival day of the traveler is the 0th day and the number of quarantine days in the hotel is three days. That is, they will be seen as completing quarantine around noon on the third day, Fung added.
He said that the travelers could leave the hotel earlier after passing all the tests on the third day of quarantine.
For those undergoing quarantine at hotels, if they had completed the three days isolation requirements, will be allowed to leave earlier in batches in the next few days after obtaining negative
Covid test results.
Fung continued that the hotel will refund the rest of the room rate, but it takes time to process, so visitors are recommended to wait patiently.
According to the contract between the authorities and hotels, if the number of quarantine days is reduced due to the change of policy, hotels will have to refund the remaining days to travelers.
