New World Development is currently in talks with the Hospital Authority to provide free hotel stays for front-line medical professionals fighting the pandemic in public hospitals, its chief executive officer Adrian Cheng Chi-kong said on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference of the group’s interim results presentation, Cheng said they have received a positive response from the Authority and saluted all front-line hospital staff for their relentless effort in fighting the
coronavirus.
The chief Executive officer also said the group has distributed more than 200 heaters to patients on gurneys outside emergency rooms, outdoor testing stations in public housing estates and buildings under compulsory testing in recent days to offer citizens their support.
Separately, Cheng said the group has initiated the donation of medical equipment to frontline medical staff, cleaners and staff of elderly homes, including 300,000 rapid testing kits and 10,000 medical equipment-grade oximeters.
Cheng also said the group will also help alleviate the pressure on public hospitals, providing free online consultation services through the group’s Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong.
Effective from March 1, Gleneagles will offer free online consultation services to be provided by Family Medicine specialists. The service will initially be run for one month, providing consultation service to people aged 9 or above.
Eligible members of the public can make a booking for the virtual consultation service through the online system on the hospital’s website. Patients who have successfully registered will receive details of the consultation service and a confirmation email.
