The newly opened space is located to the east of Wan Chai Ferry Pier on a harbor site reclaimed for the construction of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass and is about 4,600 square meters in size.

This is also the 12th Harborfront leisure space opened in the city since October last year.

The Precinct, which mainly comprises simple fair-faced concrete and wooden structures with a spice of photo frames and neon lights, features installations reminiscent of Hong Kong's past.

The Precinct is decorated with traditional, Hong Kong-style metal gates with brightly colored mailboxes hanging on them. It showcases the lifestyles of Hong Kong in the past and offers check-in spots for visitors to take photos.

Located next to Wan Chai Ferry Pier, the Pierside Precinct can be accessed from the ferry pier or Wan Chai North Temporary Public Transport Interchange, or by walking just 10 minutes via footbridges from Exit A5 of the Wan Chai MTR Station.

Meanwhile, HarbourChill, a themed Harborfront space located next to the Pierside Precinct, opened an extended portion today.

The new area, which covers an area of about 250 square meters, will be managed as a Harborfront Shared Space under a vision-driven approach.

It features artificial turf, a luminous word installation of "HarbourChill", and a curved outdoor deck with featured tables and chairs, providing more leisure and dining space for the public.

A Development Bureau spokesperson said it is anticipated that about 45,000 square meters of new open space at the Wan Chai Harborfront will be completed by the end of this year or early next year.

"We greatly look forward to the opening of the Water Sports and Recreation Precinct (Phase II) in Wan Chai and the Revitalized Typhoon Shelter Precinct at the end of this year, to introduce fence-free harbor steps to Victoria Harbour for the first time and let visitors get even closer to the water," the spokesperson added.
