National security director Frederic Choi to resume duty before mid-August
National security director Frederic Choi Chin-pang, who was caught in a massage parlor raid, will resume duty before mid-August and the case does not involve criminal offense, said Commissioner of Police Raymond Siu Chak-yee.
Choi was caught during a police raid in an unlicensed massage parlor in May. Police investigation has been ongoing and Choi is currently on leave.
Police chief Siu said the Department of Justice confirmed last Thursday that the case does not involve any criminal offense. He added after primary discipline review, the case will be passed to the Secretariat on Civil Service Discipline under the Civil Service Bureau.
He believed that the Secretariat will handle the case according to established mechanism in a serious manner.
Siu also said as Choi resumes his duty in the police force, he will take the post of Director of Personnel and Training. Siu said he has faith in Choi, whose ability allows him to perform well in this new post.
He stressed that if any police officer involves in unlawful activities, the police force will handle the case equally and fairly, ensuring that relevant officer will not make the same mistake again in the future.
