Hong Kong Expands Controversial National Education Program
The "Love Our Home, Treasure Our Country" national education programme is set to be expanded to cover more than 900 Hong Kong schools, according to principals.
The programme, which aims to promote patriotism and national identity, will be expanded from the next academic year.
Aided and direct subsidy scheme schools will be allowed to devise their own national education activities, which should be different from government institutions.
The expansion of the programme was announced by Secretary for Education Christine Choi at last year's opening of the programme.
