MTR to step up services on Ching Ming Festival and half-fare ‘Thank You Day’
The MTR Corporation announced on Tuesday that train services during the Ching Ming Festival and a newly introduced half-fare “Thank You Days” will be enhanced to cope with passengers’ needs.
The railway company said the Ching Ming Festival (April 5) this year falls during the initial stage of resuming to normalcy, and that the MTRC will step up train service on the East Rail Line, Tsuen Wan Line and Island Line to run at intervals of about 2.8 to 3.5 minutes in the evening of Ching Ming Festival to facilitate passengers’ journeys.
Meanwhile, the company said a new “Thank You Days” on two weekends this month and next month (April 8-9 and May 13-14) will offer passengers a 50 percent fare discount.
Train service on most MTR lines will be stepped up during different periods with train frequencies enhanced to 2.8 to 6 minutes for most parts of the day.
“Furthermore, trains on the Disneyland Resort Line will be running at a shortened interval of every 5 minutes in the morning and evening, while more coupled-set Light Rail vehicles will be deployed to provide higher capacity to serve passenger needs,” said the MTR.
