The first train of the full Tuen Ma Line will leave Sung Wong Toi Station at 5.50 am tomorrow.
Around 400 pieces of artifacts — unearthed during the construction work of Song Wong Toi station — dated back to the Song-Yuan period will be displayed at the station, including a mini ceramic dice, and incense burners made with celadon, a kind of porcelain that is baked with a blue-green glaze.
Jacob Kam Chak-pui, chief executive of MTR Corp, said they would deploy more staffers at Song Wong Toi station given the artifacts exhibition within the station.
Kam added that the new interchange arrangement at Hung Hom station has been going smoothly.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor took a train ride from To Kwa Wan to Sung Wong Toi to attend the opening ceremony of Hong Kong’s newest MTR line.
"As the SAR's electoral systems have been refined and the Legislative Council has returned as a sensible discussion platform, the administration's governance effectiveness can be improved, which is beneficial in launching major infrastructural developments," she said.
The full Tuen Ma Line will be the longest railway line in Hong Kong, spanning 56 kilometers with 27 stations by connecting the Wu Kai Sha station on the Ma On Shan Line to the Tuen Mun station on the West Rail Line at Hung Hom station.
