MTR corp announced today that staff in regular contact with passengers, customers and contractors are required to receive at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccines by the end of this year.
The targeted groups of staff constitute over half of the company’s workforce.
Taking into account operational needs, the company will require staff who have not yet done so to meet the deadline of taking the first dose of a
Covid-19 vaccination either by October 31 or by December 31.
Otherwise, they will have to undergo a
Covid-19 test every 14 days during off-duty hours and present a valid negative test result.
For staff who are medically unsuitable for vaccination, the cost of such tests will be covered.
The spokesperson of MTRCL said that the company has been encouraging all eligible staff to receive the
vaccine as soon as possible and that with the assistance of the government, the company organized an outreach vaccination at Kowloon Bay Depot for staff and their family members.
Jacob Kam Chak-pui, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation, said that the new vaccination arrangement will strengthen the protection of their colleagues and their families, as well as providing extra protection for the millions of customers whom they serve every day.
