More than 153,000 citizens have taken part in Sport For All Day 2021
More than 153,000 citizens took part in Sport For All Day 2021 yesterday, including over 120,000 people using public recreational facilities. As much as 98 percent of main areas in sports centers were occupied, while 57,000 people attended public swimming pools.
They also showed support for Hong Kong athletes in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has also conducted a live webcast to introduce Latin dances, breaking, fitness dance and various new sports, which were attended by more than 17,000 viewers.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on Sunday joined an event of the campaign at Che Kung Temple Sports Centre.
She watched dance demonstrations with other government officials before taking part in Boccia with athletes with disabilities. She then presided over the start of a cycling race.
The department has vowed to continue promoting sports for all and recommended people foster the habit of exercising at least half an hour a day for a healthy life.
