More than 1,000 people went to a police recruitment experience day at Hong Kong Police College in Wong Chu Hang.
The force aims to attract 195 people to join recruitment for trainee inspectors, and another 1,345 for police constables.
During the experience day, potential recruits are told about how the recruitment process works, what they should expect in Police College, and what their career paths are for various positions.
Various departments set up booths to introduce their work, including police dog team, patrol team, police tactical unit and force escort group.
Police said violence cases over the past few years have made some reluctant to join. But the number of people applying for posts in the first six months this year has gone up 10 percent from the second half of last year. The number of those finally recruited went up 50 percent.
