More dining festivals lined up in city for Happy Hong Kong program, Budget says
The government is on the verge of holding a series of food and drink festivals in the following couple of months under the "Happy Hong Kong" project, said Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po on Wednesday when unveiling his new annual budget proposal.
"We will launch a series of events under the theme of 'Gourmet Marketplace' across the city in the coming months to serve citizens with large-scale food fairs," he said.
He noted the fairs would bring together dining and drink from the local market, mainland China, and overseas to feed citizens at various feasts.
Chan added that the Happy Hong Kong project will include a large-scale sea-land carnival in summer, with Victoria Harbor as the stage. Performances presented by artists from around the world will offer the experience of razzle-dazzle to showgoers, he said.
Additionally, organizations like the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation will each hold themed fairs, carnivals, or other activities this year.
"I hope each one in Hong Kong can enjoy wonderful moments with their beloved ones," Chan said.
"Apart from providing members of the public with more diverse choices of fun and interesting activities in Hong Kong," he pointed out, "it will also help stimulate local consumption and boost our economy."
