A suicidal man who drank suspected drain cleaner after allegedly stabbing his friend to death two days ago at a Mong Kok flat died in hospital on Thursday due to medical distress.
The 51-year-old man, who lives on the 26th floor of a flat in Hoi Fu Court in Mong Kok, called the police at about 6.20pm on Tuesday saying he had killed someone.
He allegedly severely wounded his 64-year-old friend, who was found by neighbors in the corridor with knife wounds to his neck, head, and arms. The victim was later declared dead at Kwong Wah Hospital.
The 51-year-old was found sitting on a ledge outside the flat window in an apparently suicidal state that day when officers responded to the scene. It is understood he drank a bottle of suspected drain cleaner.
The man was later pushed back into the flat by firefighters who had climbed down from the floor above and was arrested by police officers for murder. The suspect was sent to hospital for an examination.
Officers suspect the two men had a dispute before the knife attack. The Mong Kok District crime unit is continuing with the investigation.
