Mobilizing cross-sector collaboration to promote social innovation
Centering on reshaping society in the post-pandemic era, the 15th Social Enterprise Summit (SES 2022) International Symposium held last week invited more than 70 accomplished speakers from various countries and regions, including social entrepreneurs, leaders from government, business, and academic sectors, to share insights into spearheading the upcoming social and economic rebound.
With the theme on ‘Bounce Forward Together’, the four-day International Symposium was jam-packed with highlights, including Policy Dialogue, Keynote Speeches, Youth Summit, Asia Youth Entrepreneurship Exchange, social innovation visits, netwworking activities, and more. The Symposium enabled delegates to gain experience, exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of the latest trends in social entrepreneurship.
“SES has, since its inception, made a significant impact in driving social innovation,” remarks Mrs Rebecca Choy Yung, Chair of Social Enterprise Summit Organising Committee. “I am very proud to see how SES grew from a local conference to a prominent movement and platform over the last 15 years.”
Social entrepreneurship, Choy points out, is vital during any crisis recovery process since it helps in advocating, engaging and empowering the communities. Essential services and assistance are provided to collectively facilitate the process of recovery from the pandemic by addressing its consequences.
“Social entrepreneurship also plays a vital role in cultivating the passion and boosting capacity of young people,” she continues. “At the Youth on Youth Community Carnival and the Youth Summit at the Symposium, young people get inspired and make useful connections that are effective for their entrepreneurship journey.”
SES has launched the Community Programme since 2014 in addition to the International Symposium to indoctrinate social innovation and social entrepreneurship into the community. “This year, we have extended our reach to ten districts with a multifarious range of activities and SE Programmes, while the in-depth empowerment and training programmes were held in five districts,” Choy adds.
