Man who robbed two taxi drivers at ‘knifepoint’ arrested
Hong Kong police arrested a man on Monday who allegedly robbed two taxi drivers in Aberdeen. It is understood that one of the drivers tailed the man after being robbed which led to the arrest.
The incident happened at around 3.08 am this morning when a taxi passing through Yue On Court Road in Aberdeen was flagged down by the man posing as a passenger.
The 55-year-old driver, Kwok, was forced to hand over around HK$300 in cash after the robber claimed to have a knife. The man then fled on foot as Kwok drove off.
It is understood that the police force was later alerted of a second robbery and the robber’s whereabouts, after a second taxi driver, 62-year-old Ng, was also robbed of around HK$300 in cash with the same MO.
Sources said one of the victims tailed the man after being robbed.
Officers later intercepted the 20-year-old man on Lei Tung Estate Road and arrested him for robbery. The case has been handed over to the District Crime Squad of the Western District.
