Man returns home to find Sha Tin flat ransacked and over HK$1.8m in cash and valuables stolen
Cash and valuables worth over HK$1.8 million in total were stolen from a flat in Sha Tin in Hong Kong’s latest burglary case, police said on Tuesday.
The latest case came to light at around 11pm on Monday when a 41-year-old man returned home and found his flat in The Great Hill on Causeway bay mountain road of Sha Tin had been ransacked.
Police’s initial investigation showed 20 pieces of gold ornaments worth HK$850,000, seven pieces of watch worth HK$960,000 and HK$30,000 in cash were stolen. Officers scouted the area but no arrest was made.
Police believed two suspects were involved in the case, in which the duo climbed up the building along the water pipes and work their way into the flat through an unlocked toilet window.
