Man loses 13 luxury wristwatches worth HK$3.12m in Fo Tan burglary
A burglary in Fo Tan saw a male tenant lose a safe containing 13 luxury wristwatches from brands like Rolex, Piguet, and IWC, worth about HK$3.12 million.
The burglary was reported to police around 9.50 pm on Friday as the 37-year-old man returned to his home at Block 1 of The Morning Glory on 1 Lok Ha Square and found the place was completely looted.
Upon further inspection, he found a safe – containing 13 luxurious wristwatches valued at about HK$3.12 million – was also stolen.
Police arrived at the crime scene to investigate and listed the case as a burglary. The Sha Tin district crime investigation team now handles the case, and no one has been arrested so far.
When staffers of a TV broadcaster were covering the burglary, another male tenant who lived there arrived home at the same time, and an argument erupted between the two sides. Police then intervened and separated them.
It was understood that the other male tenant was also the victim of a burglary last Thursday (Apr 13) and lost a safe containing about HK$150,000 worth of jewelry.
