Man kidnapped in Yau Ma Tei ‘rescued’ by roadblock from another traffic incident
A 37-year-old man was kidnapped and forced aboard a private car by three others on Pilkem Street Saturday afternoon. Yet, the attackers’ “mission” suspectedly went south as they abandoned the vehicle and left the man behind after finding the road blocked by another traffic incident.
The incident occurred at around 4pm. Passersby immediately reported to police after witnessing the man being forced onboard the car, crying for help.
Officers soon rushed to the scene, but the car and the attackers were long gone.
As the car reached Scout Path near Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, the attackers suspectedly abandoned their vehicle and fled after seeing a roadblock up ahead, with officers and paramedics attending to another traffic incident.
Other officers later reached the scene and located the 37-year-old man, who sustained injuries to his neck and hands. He was then sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Police are now searching for the three attackers, including two local men and a South Asian, aged 30 to 40.
The man claimed he didn’t know the trio, and officers are investigating the trio’s motives. The case is now handled by the Yau Tsim district crime squad.
