A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 18-year imprisonment on Tuesday for raping two women he met on Facebook.
Jobless Cheung Tsz-hong pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting and raping a 20-year-old woman, identified as X, on December 10, 2016.
He was sentenced to 14-year imprisonment earlier for raping another 26-year-old woman, identified as Y, three times from December 14 to 17, 2016. He will be jailed for a total of 18 years for the rapes.
The court originally scheduled a retrial for his raping of the 20-year-old last week, but the defendant ended up admitting to the charges.
Cheung met X on
Facebook and claimed that he hoped to hire X as his shopkeeper for HK$400. He then demanded X to visit his home in Tuen Mun and lured her into his room where he claimed he kept the goods and supplies.
Cheung suddenly restrained X's neck with a plastic tape and covered her eyes and mouth. He pointed a knife at X warning her not to make any noise. He then raped X without using protection and only released her in the evening.
Judge Alex Lee Wan-tang pointed out that Cheung's behavior increased the risk for X to be diagnosed with sexual diseases and referred to his previous sex crime records, saying a deterrent sentence is necessary to reflect the gravity of his crime.
As for Y's rape, Cheung lured her to his home and indecently assaulted her. He used a lighter to heat up a knife to perform sadomasochistic acts on Y and raped her three times.
During the incident Y was detained at Cheung's home for four days. She once tried to seek help from Cheung's father but she was stopped by Cheung.
“Don't try to pull any trick. He is my father, do you think he is going to help you?” Cheung once warned Y.
Cheung's parents then called him on December 17, 2016 that people had been looking for Y and urged him to release Y. Cheung then raped Y for the third time, telling her “you will soon get to go.”
