Man jailed for 10 years and 6 weeks after raping stepdaughter
A 42-year-old warehouse worker was sentenced to 10 years and 6 weeks in jail for raping and beating the 18-year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend.
He was called an “animal” by Deputy High Court Judge Anna Lai Yuen-kee, who slammed him for making use of the teenager for his sexual desires.
The jury found him guilty of two counts of rape earlier for raping the girl between 2017 and 2019 at her grandmother's home. He also pleaded guilty to beating the young girl twice with a chair and canes.
Judge Lai said that the defendant should have protected the teenage girl as a stepfather, but instead he took advantage of the trust of his stepdaughter and his girlfriend.
He raped her twice without a condom when she was afraid to resist. The defendant also asked the girl to have sex with him for HK$100, but she refused.
The victim was depressed and angry after the rape, according to a follow-up report. She suffered from poor appetite and could not sleep well, frequently waking up by nightmares. She also cried for no reason, Lai said.
She added that although her condition has improved, the girl refused to receive psychological counseling.
The defendant kept saying that the girl has made false accusations against him and his mother.
He also claimed he beat the girl to teach her on behalf of his girlfriend.
In addition, the defendant took pictures of her breasts and private parts while she was sleeping. He did not show any remorse and used her as a target for releasing anger and threatened her not to tell others.
The judge sentenced him to ten years for two counts of rape and six weeks for two counts of assault.
