Man in Wan Chai kills himself and leaves suicide note
A 32-year-old man killed himself in front of the police and left a suicide note in Wan Chai on Friday night.
Police received a report from the Irish man's family at 8.28pm last night, saying the man attempted to hurt himself with a knife at Hing Fat Street in North Point and then ran away.
It was understood that the man with an eight-inch long folding knife in his hand once entered Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.
He was later found by officers at the junction between Gloucester Road and Marsh Road in Wan Chai. Officers tried to subdue the man with pepper spray and batons, who was wielding the knife and acting vigorously.
The man then suspectedly cut his throat and fell onto the ground.
The man who sustained neck injury was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also found a suicide note at the scene. They believed the man took away his own life as he was unhappy and was troubled by life problems.
The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed.
