Man dies after assaulted by four men in Yau Ma Tei park
A man in his 50s died after he was moved away and assaulted by four men in a Yau Ma Tei park on Tuesday afternoon as pedestrians attempted to call off the attack but in vain.
Police rushed to the park between Shanghai Street and Dundas Street and located the man shortly after the incident was reported at 5.57pm today. The man was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital but was pronounced dead at 6.41pm.
A citizen surnamed Wong said he saw two attackers grabbed the man to the park while two others followed from behind. One of them was wearing a gray T-shirt and the other three a black T-shirt.
Wong thought the man was drunk at first but decided to report to police as he saw the man “didn't move at all.”
Officers later cordoned off the area for investigations and talked to neighbors to see if they saw what happened. About 9pm, officers carrying shields were seen patrolling a building near the park.
The case has been listed an assault occasioning bodily harm and is now handled by Yau Tsim district crime squad.
