Man commits suicide after attacking wife with wooden stick in Tseung Kwan O
A man plunged to death by jumping off a building after attacking his wife with a wooden rod in Tseung Kwan O early Monday morning.
A 71-year-old man surnamed So attacked his 65-year-old wife, surnamed Lee, at their Hau Tak Estate apartment at around 3 am after tempers flared.
Lee was struck on the head, and after a short while, So jumped out from the kitchen windows of the apartment. Their son called the police immediately.
Paramedics found So dead on the scene, and police cordoned off the area for investigation. Lee was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The police have not discovered a suicide letter and seized the 50-cm-long wooden stick used in the assault, listing the case as an assault and suicide case.
It is understood that So suffered from mood disorders for many years, and the police are not excluding this as the cause of the incident.
