Man barred from using phone with internet functions after doxxing cops and women
A 49-year-old man has been barred from using any mobile phone with internet functions by a court after he was arrested for doxxing police officers, their children and other women.
Engineering manager Leung Fai was charged with three counts of disclosing personal information without the owner's consent as the trial began before principal magistrate Peter Law Tak-chuen in West Kowloon Court on Friday.
The first two counts of the charge alleged Leung of disclosing photos of two women “A” and “B” without their consent between November 11 and Tuesday (Dec 13), with intent to cause harm to the duo or their families.
As for the third count of the charge, Leung allegedly disclosed the name and photos of a police officer “C” between August 31 and Tuesday, leading the officer to worry about the safety of his own and that of his family.
Leung appeared in the courtroom before Law today and needed not to enter a plea. As requested by the prosecution, Law adjourned the trial to January 18 next year, pending further investigations.
Leung was released on bail for HK$70,000 and was prohibited from using a mobile phone that comes with internet functions. He was also ordered to delete his Twitter user account and all messages that incited hatred and violence.
