Man arrested for HK$4 million cocaine manufacturing and trafficking in Tin Shui Wai
Police announced on Sunday that a drug manufacturing workshop was smashed in Tin Shui Wai with 4.3 kilograms of cocaine seized and a 34-year-old arrested.
The arrestee, surnamed Lai, was unemployed and intercepted by officers during an anti-narcotics operation last Friday.
Officers earlier received reports that the suspect rented a residential flat in Tin Shui Wai for stocking and trafficking drugs. Officers deployed an ambush Friday afternoon and spotted a suspicious man entering the involved unit.
The police seized four packs of suspicious drugs from the man and further discovered 4.3 kilograms of cocaine with a market value of around HK$4 billion in the flat.
A batch of drug manufacturing equipment and raw materials were also seized.
According to the police, the man was believed to be a triad member and in charge of the drug warehouse for producing and trafficking cocaine.
The arrestee is detained pending his appearance in Eastern District Magistrates’ Courts.
