Malls' revenue double thanks to consumption vouchers
Sino Group said three of its shopping malls – Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Olympian City in Olympic and Tsuen Wan Citywalk – saw its revenue double during the National Day weekend when compared to the same period last year, thanks to the distribution of the second batch of electronic consumption vouchers on October 1.
The number of visitors also went up 20 percent year-on-year, according to the developer.
Sino Group launched a series of promotions including "Shop More, Win More Instant Win Lucky Draw" and "Octopus Spending Rewards" in its shopping malls during the three-day holiday from October 1 to 3, as it taps on the distribution of consumption vouchers.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said the second batch of vouchers have helped businesses thrive, and will be a driving force of economic recovery.
He bought ice cream to distribute to the public on National Day, saying that sharing happiness with the public is the most satisfying experience.
He said that more than 5 million people have received the second batch of the vouchers, hoping that it would bring optimism to the market at a time when the pandemic is under control and the economy is improving steadily.
"Residents and enterprises would have positive expectations of the future economy and the vouchers can become a driving force for a sustainable economic recovery," Chan said.
