Mainland tourist seriously injured after being struck by reversing coach bus
A 67-year-old mainland tourist was seriously injured after he was struck by a reversing coach bus in To Kwa Wan on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred shortly after noon at around 12.18 pm on San Ma Tau Street.
Live sources said the injured man came from Urumqi on a two-way permit and was a member of a mainland tour group.
Moments before the incident, he was standing near the front of a coach bus and about to board the vehicle.
Yet, another reversing coach bus knocked him over, suspectedly because the driver didn’t notice the tourist was standing behind the vehicle. Though lying on the ground, the man remained conscious and sustained multiple injuries to his body.
Other members of the tour group immediately called the police, and paramedics soon came and rushed the man to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Police later arrested the driver for dangerous driving after a preliminary investigation. A police investigation is ongoing.
