Mainland man robbed by online predator loses identification documents and HK$100
An online friend robbed a mainland man in a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel Saturday night (April 8), stealing his identification documents and HK$100 in cash.
Police received a report this morning from a mainland man, surnamed Huang, stating that he was robbed by a male friend he met online.
The 35-year-old mainlander arrived in Hong Kong on a two-way permit after getting acquainted with a local man on social media and decided to head to a hotel after having some drinks yesterday night.
When he awoke from his drunken slumber, he discovered that the male friend was missing and his personal belongings stolen.
The victim stated that he was drunk and could not remember many details, except that the male friend was about 30 and wore a black shirt and green pants.
Police officers have labelled this as theft and are tracking the suspect.
